Benefits of ECU remapping
ECU remapping can not only improve the engine's power and torque figures, it can also sharpen the throttle response and widen the power-band. This will make the engine's power output smoother in its delivery, enabling better control, and increased performance overall. You can also re-program the ECU to produce a reduction in fuel consumption. Extra torque at lower revs will make long distance driving much more economical, and improve response for laden vehicles.
What is an ECU?
All modern cars and vans on the road today have an ECU (Engine Control Unit). This can be described as the vehicle's ‘brain’ and contains a processor that takes information from various sensors throughout the engine. It analyses this information and then adds the appropriate quantity of fuel, to provide a good mix of fuel economy, performance and emission control when the driver requires it.
